Roulette Lingo

To help you get your head around the different terms attached to the many different betting options you can make when playing Roulette, below you will find our Roulette Lingo guide.

We also show you where you should place your chip onto the layout to make such a wager.

Bet Name Description of Bet
Single Number / Straight Up bet This is simply one bet on any single number. You need to place your chip on the center of the number.
Upwards and Sideways Double or Split bet This bet covers two adjacent numbers, commonly known as a two-number bet. To place such a wager on the Roulette table you put a chip on the line that separates the numbers.
Three on a row or Street bet This bet covers all three numbers in a row, and may be sometimes called a three-number bet. Simply put your chip on the outside line at the start of the row you wish to cover.
Box of Four or Square bet This wager covers all the numbers on a block of four numbers, this bet is also called a four-number bet. Put your chip on the spot in the center of your four Straight Up numbers.
Box of Five or Five-Number Line bet This is a wager only found on the American Roulette table and it covers five numbers, comprising of 00, 0, 1, 2 and 3. Put your chip on intersection of the dividing lines between 0 and 1.
Box of Six or Six-Number Line bet This bet covers six numbers, which are two adjacent rows. Put your chip on the line above Dozen bets so that it rests between the two rows of numbers that you want to cover.
Column bet This is when you wish to wager on any one of the three vertical columns. Place your chip at the bottom of the column.
Dozen bet In this wager you are covering twelve numbers - these can be High, Middle or Low. Place your chip on one of the following areas: First 12, Second 12 or Third 12.
Even-Money bet This is a bet on eighteen numbers. Place your chip on one of the following squares, Even, Odd, Red, Black, 1-18 or 19-36.


Below are the bets available when playing French Roulette

Dozen Bets Description of Bet
Premiere 12 bet This bet covers the first twelve numbers, 1 to 12. Place your chip on the following area: P12.
Moyenne 12 bet This bet covers the middle twelve numbers, 13 to 24. Place your chip on the following area: M12.
Derniere 12 bet This bet covers the last twelve numbers, 25 to 36. Place your chip on the following area: D12.


Even-Money Bets Description of Bet
Manqué 1 to 18 bet This bet covers the first eighteen numbers, 1 to 18. Place your chip on the following area: Manqué 1 to 18.
Passé 19 to 36 bet This bet covers the last eighteen numbers, 19 to 36. Place your chip on the following area: Passé 19 to 36.
Pair Even bet This bet covers the eighteen even numbers. Place your chip on the following area: Pair Even.
Impair Odd bet This bet covers the eighteen odd numbers. Place your chip on the following area: Impair Odd.
Red bet This bet covers the eighteen red numbers. Place your chip on the following area: Red Diamond.
Black bet This bet covers the eighteen black numbers. Place your chip on the following area: Black Diamond.
